About Internet Better: A Broadband Education Initiative
Internet Better is an eight-module video-learning program designed to help residents of the Upper Cumberland region and beyond understand the value, opportunities, and safety of broadband internet access.
The course was created through a partnership between Tennessee Tech University and Twin Lakes Telephone Cooperative Corporation, a leading internet provider serving the Upper Cumberland area. Together, these organizations are committed to expanding digital literacy, online safety, and access to broadband resources across Tennessee communities.
Purpose & Goals
The purpose of this program is to:
- Teach the benefits of broadband internet and how it can improve quality of life.
- Inform learners about real-world resources that support access to affordable internet service.
- Build confidence and practical skills for using digital tools in education, healthcare, employment, and daily living.
By the end of the course, participants will understand how broadband internet connects individuals to opportunity; from Telehealth visits and job training to online learning, community engagement, and financial management. Participants will also have the opportunity to opt in for their responses to course quizzes to be used in research which would inform future broadband initiatives.
Who It’s For
This course is designed for adults and families who want to make the most of broadband internet but may be new to its possibilities. Whether you’re connecting for work, education, health, or entertainment, Internet Better provides the foundational knowledge to help you navigate the online world with confidence.
